The ArmTech Organizing Committee Meeting

( September 19, 2007 )

The results of "ArmTech 2007", held in San Francisco between July 4-7, were presented to Armenia"s authorities by the organizers of the Congress on 19 September 2007.

As Radik Martirosyan, President of the National Academy of Sciences summarized, “The Congress was very presentational. Organizing an event of such volume is connected with lots of difficulties but we must admit that the results were very good. A number of reports were presented and representation from Armenia was very well selected. Some problems were inevitable but the fact that the Congress was taking place for the first time should be taken into account. The most important thing is that we became known to the world through the Congress.”

As a result of the Congress, Armenia’s IT Industry is expected to see increased opportunities for Armenian businesses, job creation and investment, and more significant support for professionals in this field.

Rich Goldman, Co-Chairman of ArmTech 2007 organizing committee and Executive Director of Synopsys Armenia said. “We could bring together not only Armenian investors but also stakeholder organizations from all over the world: Europe, Asia, South America, etc. Although we have great opportunities in this field, there are problems that need to be solved in order to ensure progress. This mainly refers to the educational system where reforms should be implemented to adjust it to industry demands.”

At the end, Radik Martirosyan granted awards to the representatives of three companies for their input into Armenia’s high-tech development and for organizing ArmTech 2007. The awards were granted to Tony Moroyan, ArmTech Chairman, Rich Goldman, ArmTech co-Chairman and Executive Director of Synopsys Armenia and Aram Vardanyan, ArmTech 2007 Armenian Committee Chairman and General Director of Viasphere Technopark.
